Sun Tai A'e (Xiao Fangfang), who lives in an old building and has a fiery temperament, rushes between home and company every day, meticulously budgeting for her family and organization. Her family includes her husband (Law Kar Ying), who is a driving license examiner, her son (Ding Zi Jun) attending Mindfulness University, a mother-in-law who treats her like a biological daughter, and a foul-tempered, domineering father-in-law with a military background (Qiao Hong). Her husband's siblings live in a wealthy area and have married off to Taiwan, leading to little contact with them. The sudden death of her mother-in-law turns her father-in-law into a demented old man, with only old memories in his mind and only recognizing A'e in front of him. He continues to do absurd things one after another, leaving A'e's family exhausted in dealing with the situation, while her sister-in-law, who prefers to be a stay-at-home wife, is unwilling to help. A'e and her husband have tried sending the father-in-law to a day care center and a nursing home, but it brings them no peace of mind. Furthermore, the job that brings A'e much joy becomes a source of annoyance due to encountering younger and more capable competitors. However, her father-in-law also expresses gratitude to A'e, who feels increasingly unable to cope as she approaches forty, in his own way.
