Professor Abronsius (played by Jack MacGowran), a vampire expert, travels to the Transylvanian mountains in Eastern Europe with his assistant Alfred (Roman Polanski) to hunt down a terrifying vampire demon. They stay at an inn at the foot of the snowy mountains, where the walls are adorned with garlic, especially in the room of the innkeeper's daughter, Sarah (Sharon Tate), which is particularly elaborately decorated. The professor is pleased by this and realizes he has come to the right place; meanwhile, Alfred becomes infatuated with the beautiful Sarah. One night, Sarah is suddenly abducted by Count Krolock (Ferdy Mayne), a vampire from the mountaintop, and the next day the innkeeper, Sago, is found drained of blood. To save the beautiful girl, the professor and Alfred venture up the mountain and into a creepy castle filled with ghostly shadows... Director Roman Polanski fell in love with Sharon Tate while making this film, and they married the following year, but the pregnant Sharon was soon brutally murdered by the Manson family.
