Willie (John Lurie), a Hungarian immigrant living in New York, considers himself a fashionable young man. At the request of his aunt, he reluctantly accommodates his cousin Eva (Eszter Balint), whom he has never met, at his home for 10 days. However, during these brief and dull ten days, the quirky Eva gradually wins over Willie's affection and also becomes friends with his buddy Eddie (Richard Edson). A year later, Willie and Eddie win a lot of money playing poker and decide to leave the city to find Eva in Cleveland. Feeling bored again, the three friends decide to leave Cleveland together for a vacation in Florida. However, in Florida, their boring time takes a dramatic turn when Willie and Eddie lose all their money at the dog track, while Eva unexpectedly gains some cash after being mistaken for a drug dealer during a walk on the beach. After leaving some money for her two friends, Eva prepares to buy a plane ticket back to Europe. Meanwhile, Willie and Eddie win their money back at the horse races. Will they be able to successfully retrieve Eva at the airport...? The film won the Golden Leopard at the 1984 Locarno International Film Festival and a Special Jury Prize at the 1985 Sundance Film Festival.
