The life of writer Janet (played by Kerry Fox) is fraught with difficulties due to suffering and illuminated by words. From a young age, growing up in a poor family, she was sensitive and introverted, unable to communicate with others. Even with excellent academic performance, she could not instill even a hint of pride in her childhood. Only by immersing herself in the world of literature could Janet's repressed mind and body be completely released. Fate repeatedly struck her, first with the unfortunate deaths of her sister and mother, then Janet was misdiagnosed as a mental patient and sent to a psychiatric hospital for a long-term treatment of eight years. She used her words to remember her lost loved ones, and her solitary writing became a spiritual celebration. Eventually, after her works were published, she gained the fame that many dream of and encountered a brief, passionate love. However, after the chaotic turn of fate, Janet returned to a desolate life, returning to her hometown to continue her lonely writing.
