Essens Enterprises is a large French company with ninety thousand employees. One day, a financial analyst named Dama jumped from the rooftop of the corporate headquarters and ended his life. When the Department of Labor intervened in the investigation, Emily, the HR manager, stated that Dama's death was purely due to "personal reasons." Only Emily's secretary knew that Dama had approached Emily multiple times about being denied a transfer, yet was repeatedly ignored. Labor inspector Mary oversees 2,500 companies in her district and is responsible for the occupational safety of 30,000 employees. She firmly believes that Dama's choice to commit suicide in the workplace is a warning sign. Relentlessly, she discovered an internal corporate management method at Essens called the "Ambition Plan," which aims to force 9,000 employees to resign voluntarily through transfers, without going through "layoffs." If it can be proven that the HR manager attempted to drive Dama out, Emily would face charges of "workplace bullying" or even "manslaughter." When the top executives at Essens decided to shift all blame onto Emily, how could a small fry stand up against a whale? How should Emily retaliate?
