Sun Wukong (Stephen Chow) escorts Tang Seng (Law Kar-Ying) on the journey to the West to obtain scriptures. Along the way, he conspires with the Bull Demon King to kill Tang Seng and steals the Pandora's Box, which leads Guanyin to consider eliminating him. At Tang Seng's request, Sun Wukong is sentenced to reincarnate as a human after five hundred years to atone for his sins. Five hundred years later, Sun Wukong transforms into the leader of a bandit, Zhi Zun Bao. When he encounters the demon sisters, the spider spirit Chun San Shi Niang (Lisa Wang) and the skeletal spirit Bai Jingjing (Karen Mok), he falls in love at first sight with Bai Jingjing due to a romance they had five hundred years ago. However, after Master Bodhi reveals their identities as demons, Zhi Zun Bao leads the bandits to engage with the two demons. In the process, Bai Jingjing injures Chun San Shi Niang while saving Zhi Zun Bao and becomes poisoned. To save Bai Jingjing, Zhi Zun Bao goes to find Chun San Shi Niang, but Bai Jingjing misunderstands him, leading him to despair and commit suicide. Zhi Zun Bao then begins to use the Pandora's Box in hopes of reversing time.
