This film tells a Romeo and Juliet-style love story set in the 19th century. The story takes place against the backdrop of the infamous Mountain Meadows Massacre, which occurred on September 11, 1857, in American history. A wagon train heading to California passes through southern Utah, where Mormons discover that the wagon train includes those responsible for the Han's Mill massacre in Missouri in 1838, which involved the execution of a "cleanup order" driving Mormons out. They decide to enact revenge. Secretly collaborating with Native American tribes, they surround and ambush the wagon train, killing 120 men and women in the name of God, while only 17 children under the age of 10 survive.
