The chairman of the union at a meat processing factory in Shanghai, Big Li (Liu Xiasheng), is a warm-hearted person, but he has an unflattering nickname: "Weather Station." Although he is enthusiastic about his work, his health is poor due to lack of exercise; on rainy days, he suffers from back and leg pain, and when neighbors see him going out with an umbrella, they are sure to follow suit. The workshop director, Old Li (Fan Hahaha), strongly believes that work is far more important than sports and is very dissatisfied with his son, Little Li (Yao Debing), who constantly calls for various sports activities at the factory. The factory's strongman (Guan Hongda) prides himself on his strength and looks down upon sports activities. Little Li and other sports-loving colleagues decide to elect a chairman for the sports association to lead everyone in exercise. Upon hearing this, Old Li, along with the strongman, plans to nominate Big Li for the position, hoping to avoid offending his son and thinking that the sports activities will quickly fizzle out. However, Big Li unexpectedly ignites a passion for sports, leaving Old Li quite embarrassed. Nevertheless, Old Li remains steadfast in his belief that sports are useless, even though Big Li's wife and the mother of his five children, Xiumei (who once stood with him on the same front), actively participates in exercises; he remains unmoved.
