Inside the majestic palace, twelve royal detectives named after the Chinese zodiac bear the heavy responsibility of protecting the Emperor. Among them, Gao Tianjiu, nicknamed "Ling Ling Dog" (played by Louis Koo), is an inventive genius with a mind full of imaginative quick tricks. He frequently achieves remarkable success in his protection of the Emperor using various "magical tools," yet he remains quite clumsy when it comes to expressing his feelings for his enchanting and skilled fiancée, Mei Xiwang (played by Barbie Hsu). To enlighten this clueless "Ling Ling Dog," Mei Xiwang devises a plan to test him. The depths of the palace are riddled with deception and hidden dangers. Surrounding the matter of selecting a consort for the princess, various forces are secretly colluding, attempting to seize power and eliminate the royal detectives led by "Ling Ling Dog," putting the Emperor's safety at risk and leaving the twelve detectives facing unprecedented challenges.
