French exchange student Elsa (played by Liu Yifei) falls in love with silk researcher and shakuhachi master Ma Rong (played by Leon Lai) in Chengdu, and later develops feelings for Ma Rong's brother, tattoo artist Jianmin (played by Liu Ye) in Paris.
