Detailed introduction

This film (drama)Also known asTake Out,is aUnited StatesProducerwomen sex,At2004Released in year 。The dialogue language isEnglish, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish,Current Douban rating7.2(For reference only)。
This is a story depicting the lives and labor of illegal Chinese immigrants in New York. The protagonist, Ding Ming, is attacked by two gangsters in his home before he even gets out of bed at the beginning of the film, and they demand he pay back the $800 loan for his smuggling into the U.S. that very day, setting off a day of frantic activity. His coworkers at the restaurant even sacrifice their own work hours to help him repay his debts as soon as possible. The film follows Ding Ming's workday, showcasing the hidden reality of illegal immigrants. The actor playing Ding Ming, Charles Jang, is a Korean-American who studied Chinese in Taiwan for a year specifically for this film, which is conducted entirely in Mandarin. The scene-stealing restaurant manager is played by Li Yundi, and this film, shot in the basement restaurant where director Tsou Shih-Ching resides, delivers impressive drama and tension on an extremely low budget, making it a touching and must-see work. We hope to faithfully present the struggles faced by illegal Chinese immigrants living in New York on screen, and we are pleased that this film has resonated with many people. Of course, the entire filming process and completion were made possible with the help of mentors and friends. The current response from various sectors has been successful, which is the most gratifying aspect for us. Sean Baker: Born in New Jersey, he graduated from the New York Film School. His 2000 work, Four Letter Words, focused on the issues of suburban adolescence in America. In 2004, he completed the award-winning Takeout with a budget of only $3,000 and is currently focusing on post-production for Broadway Prince, a film about West African immigrants selling counterfeit goods in New York's wholesale markets. Tsou Shih-Ching: Born in Taipei, Taiwan, she is a writer, producer, and director. After collaborating with Sean Baker on Takeout in 2004, she is now in pre-production for a new film, Left Handed Girl.
