In 1824, Vienna. The 23-year-old Anna Holtz (played by Diane Kruger) becomes Beethoven's (played by Ed Harris) manuscript copyist due to her outstanding understanding of music. At this time, Beethoven, who has already gone deaf, is immersed in composing his "Farewell Symphony." Anna initially hopes to learn from Beethoven while working for him to become an excellent composer, but she quickly discovers that Beethoven is a stubborn, rude man obsessed with his own world. The premiere of Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" is successful due to Anna's timely assistance, and their relationship gradually improves. However, when Anna presents her own compositions for Beethoven's evaluation, she is met with his sharp and caustic mockery, leading her to leave him in anger. At Beethoven's request, Anna returns to his side and attempts to accept the criticisms conveyed through his extreme words, and she seems to gradually understand this genius master... The film was nominated for Best European Film at the Goya Awards, known as the "Spanish Oscars," in 2007.
