"Revolution knows no gender, age, or era! This film is based on the true events of the Korean independence movement, featuring the young revolutionary heroine Yu Kwan-sun as its prototype, witnessing a little-known part of history. During the Japanese occupation, Korea erupted in the March 1st Movement, with a seventeen-year-old girl taking to the streets to lead over two million Koreans in protest, only to be captured and imprisoned in a women's underground prison, suffering all kinds of humiliation. She did not remain silent; instead, she rallied other prisoners to break the silence, moving from self-awareness to collective awakening, jointly shouting 'Long live Korean independence' in the prison. The black-and-white scenes in the prison are particularly sharp, as everyone with resolute eyes declares: the high walls of prison can trap the body, but not the free soul. Go Ah-sung, who rose to fame in 'K-drama Ghost', and became well-known in 'Train to Busan', delivers a powerful performance as the fierce woman. In the worst of times, let us pay tribute to this heroine and all the martyrs who sacrificed for the cause."
