52-year-old Caesar (Rex Harrison) arrives in Egypt as a Roman executor to resolve the royal sibling rivalry. The stunning Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor), with her charm and political acumen, quickly wins Caesar over, gaining control of Egypt and captivating Rome with her beauty. After marrying Caesar and giving birth to a son who is favored by Caesar and named heir, this causes discontent among Caesar's generals, Antony (Richard Burton) and Octavius (Roddy McDowall).
