A strong typhoon hits Japan, and Sakutarou (portrayed by Takao Ohsawa) discovers that his fiancée, Ritsuko (portrayed by Yuuko Shibasaki), has mysteriously disappeared after leaving behind a number. As he searches for her, he unwittingly delves into his memories of high school, where he recalls his first love, Aki (portrayed by Masami Nagasawa). This buried pain resurfaces. They were classmates; Aki was a talented runner who gradually developed feelings for the awkward Sakutarou. They submitted to a radio show together, exchanged recorded diaries, and traveled together, relishing their pure love. However, their happiness was short-lived as Aki was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the torment of the disease, their relationship blossomed, and they even took a beautiful set of wedding photos together. Aki soon passed away. It turns out that the reason Ritsuko left was that she learned about these past events. After hearing the whole story, she was deeply moved and went with Sakutarou to the center of the world, a place Aki had always wanted to visit.
