Famous Hollywood actor Johnny (played by Stephen Dorff) is a playboy who spends his days in a haze of alcohol and excess, living in a hotel. One day, his estranged daughter Cleo (played by Elle Fanning) unexpectedly enters his life. With Cleo's mother away on business, Johnny is forced to step into the role of a father, even taking his daughter to the Italian Film Festival. During their brief time together, they gradually develop a bond, and everything begins to change subtly. After Cleo returns home, Johnny starts to reassess his life. The film won the Golden Lion at the 67th Venice Film Festival.
