In the distant Muffin Mountain, there is a town called Whoville, where the townspeople's beloved Christmas is approaching. The town is adorned with lights and decorations, and everyone is immersed in the joy of preparing for the Christmas festival. However, on a garbage mountain north of Whoville lives a "monster" that everyone fears – the Grinch (played by Jim Carrey). He lives a reclusive life with only his dog for company; he has a narrow heart, only a quarter the size of a normal person's; he hates Whoville and despises Christmas. Frequently tormenting the townspeople, he meets a little girl named Cindy (played by Taylor Momsen) during one of his disturbances in Whoville. This year's Christmas happens to mark the 1000th anniversary of Whoville's founding, and every household is preparing for the grand Christmas feast. Cindy invites the Grinch to the town's party, but a misunderstanding causes the Grinch to leave in anger. He decides to take revenge on the townspeople, and on Christmas Day, he disguises himself as Santa Claus and his dog Max as a reindeer, quietly sneaking into Whoville...
