The story of "The Circle" is set in the future, where the female protagonist Mae, played by Emma Watson, works for a tech giant company called "The Circle." The company links all users' personal information to its operating system, ushering in a new era of the internet. Mae meets a mysterious colleague named Kalden at the company and falls in love with him. However, Kalden, played by John Boyega, turns out to be one of the founders of the company, who created this system with his genius but ultimately realizes the invasion of personal privacy by "The Circle" and wishes to shut it down. Karen Gillan, also one of the stars, works at "The Circle" company and appears somewhat clumsy but actually possesses a high IQ. Tom Hanks's role has not yet been confirmed, but he is likely to play another behind-the-scenes boss of the Circle company. The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Dave Eggers (screenwriter of "A Hologram for the King"), who will also serve as a co-producer for "The Circle." The film is tentatively scheduled for release in 2016, with a specific date yet to be announced.
