The Duke of York (played by Colin Firth) suffers from a stutter, making it impossible for him to speak in public, which leads to his embarrassing moments at major ceremonies. His devoted wife, Elizabeth (played by Helena Bonham Carter), seeks out renowned doctors to help her husband, but traditional methods fail. By chance, she visits speech therapist Lionel Logue (played by Geoffrey Rush), rumored to have unconventional methods. Although the duke is initially uninterested in Logue's strange techniques and their first session ends poorly, he discovers that he can read Shakespeare fluently while listening to music. This revelation leads him to trust Logue, and he begins to cooperate with the treatment, slowly overcoming his psychological barriers. After the death of King George V, Edward VIII ascends to the throne but abdicates to marry the widow Mrs. Simpson. Albert is unexpectedly tasked with becoming King George VI. His greatest challenge is how to deliver an inspiring speech before World War II...
