75-year-old Momoko lives alone in the suburbs of Tokyo. After escaping an arranged marriage by moving to Tokyo at the age of 20, Momoko has built a family of her own choosing and lived happily for 55 years. After the sudden death of her husband, her plans for a peaceful old age are thwarted, but Momoko unexpectedly gains three spiritual companions, rekindling her former vitality. Accompanied by intertwining memories and reality, she re-examines her past life. The new film by renowned Japanese director Shuichi Okita is adapted from the autobiographical novel of the same name by 63-year-old Japanese author Chisako Wakatake. The protagonist Momoko is played by seasoned actress Yuko Tanaka, while Aoi Yu portrays Momoko from ages 20 to 34.
