A father on the brink of death (played by Tu Men) has a glorious past. Though a once-hero is now fading, he still fiercely resists the call of death with a stubborn attitude that defies reason. Shan Shan (played by Degena), who has returned from abroad, is in a rebellious phase and completely unable to integrate into her parents' lives, tormenting her own emotions and body. The mother (played by Eliya) has a completely different outlook on life and values from both the father and Shan Shan, navigating through the mundane world with ease, making her both irritating and pitiable.
