This film tells the story of modern Brazil lost in time. Affected by the economic crisis, Cristóvão, an Afro-Brazilian from the northern rural area, sees the local branch of the milk factory where he works close down, forcing him to leave his home and seek work at the headquarters of the factory. It is a strange town with an Austrian colonial atmosphere, and facing the xenophobic and conservative local people, Cristóvão feels isolated and cut off from the white world. Until one day, he discovers an abandoned house filled with items and memorabilia related to his origins. He settles in this house, reconnecting with his roots. Then this house of memories seems to come alive, and more items begin to appear. Gradually, Cristóvão starts to undergo a transformation.
