In 1939, Nazi Germany occupied Poland and subsequently began the massacre and expulsion of the local Jewish population. Many Jews were killed in the slaughter, while a small number hid in the forests and escaped the horror. Tuvia Bielski (played by Daniel Craig) is one of these Jews. But he is not an ordinary victim.
