The film tells a story of a mother-daughter bond without blood ties that spans over 60 years. Nearing eighty, the elderly grandmother Chen Huiming (played by Wu Yanshu) travels alone to Nara to find her lost adoptive daughter Chen Lihua. With the help of the second-generation orphan Koze (played by Eisei) and retired police officer Yihiro (played by Kunimura Jun), she connects with many people who have interacted with and assisted Lihua. Throughout this journey, Chen Huiming experiences Lihua's life after arriving in Japan, and her relationship with Koze and Yihiro becomes closer.
