This is a movie based on a true story, telling the tale of an Indian farmer, Dashrath Manjhi, who persists in carving through a mountain after the tragic loss of his beloved wife. In 1959, Manjhi's wife, Phaguniya, had an accident while climbing and fell into a valley. Due to the remote location, she could not be taken to the hospital in time and ultimately died from excessive bleeding. The villagers had to traverse a 55-kilometer mountain road to get from Manjhi’s mountainous area to the nearest town. To prevent a similar tragedy, Manjhi decided to carve a shortcut through the valley, embarking on a monumental project with just a hammer and chisel. Through 22 years of tireless work, Manjhi finally opened a pathway between the valley and the town in 1982. Although the passage was only 110 meters long, it reduced the distance between the two places to 15 kilometers. In 2007, Manjhi passed away from cancer at the age of 73. To commemorate his enormous contribution, the Bihar government held a state funeral for him. Thirty years after Manjhi completed his work, the local government finally paved the road, turning it into the main passage for residents.
