Dance star and choreographer Antonio (played by Antonio Gades) is preparing to produce the famous play "Carmen" by the French composer Bizet. Obsessed with the tragedy of "Carmen," Antonio has been searching for the right actress to play the lead role. Until a female dancer named Carmen (played by Laura del Sol) appears, Antonio immediately decides she will take the role. He is deeply attracted to the unique charm of the young and sexy Carmen and puts in great effort to train her to become a truly outstanding "Carmen." During rehearsals, he gradually develops an irresistible love for Carmen, but the free-spirited Carmen refuses to be tied down and falls in love with someone else. The entanglement of love and death gradually blurs the line between drama and reality, and the two unknowingly fall into it, unable to extricate themselves. Directed by the famous Spanish director Carlos Saura, the romantic opera film "Carmen" is recognized alongside his works "Blood Wedding" and "Love, the Magic" as part of the Flamenco dance trilogy. The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 56th Academy Awards in 1984 and won multiple awards, including the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Artistic Contribution at the 36th Cannes Film Festival in 1983.
