The Empress (played by Qu Ying) is deeply unsettled by a legend that goes, "When the two flowers bloom, the emperor's star will appear, turning the world upside down and causing great chaos." To address this, she commands her confidant Wei Liao (played by Daniel Wu) to send the mysterious envoys Lan Ling (played by Gillian Chung) and Hong Liao (played by Fan Bingbing) to engage in both open and covert battles against the rebel leader (played by Donnie Yen), desperately searching for the "Emperor's Lonely Star." Growing up selling their skills alongside their guardian Heimu (played by Tony Leung Ka Fai), Tan Tou (played by Jaycee Chan) and Chai Tou (played by Chen Bolin) inadvertently obtain a treasure stone from Tao Tao (played by Edison Chen), which is misidentified as the "Emperor's Lonely Star." While being pursued by Lan Ling, they catch the eye of Chun Shisan Shao (played by Charlene Choi), who makes a living by selling male slaves. The four of them then embark on a treasure-hunting journey and begin their respective romances. They arrive at the treasure's location and, in the end, witness the true form of the "Emperor's Lonely Star," leaving everyone astounded.
