It tells the story of the creative process behind a PJ Harvey album. Writer and musician Harvey collaborates with award-winning photographer Seamus Murphy. Harvey wants to write about several countries in her work, and to experience life in these countries firsthand, she joins Murphy on his global reporting trips several times. They travel together to Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Washington. Harvey is responsible for documenting the text, while Murphy captures photographs. Upon returning, they work together to turn the material into poems and songs, recording them in an unprecedented format at Somerset House in London. In a house made of one-way glass, the public can watch the five-week recording process under the condition of no photography. Murphy films this experiment as part of their private travel notes. The film focuses on the impact of the people and places they encounter during their journey, centering on the manifestation of humanity, and narrates the process of transforming this material into songs and films.
