The story follows the wine god Lao Jiu (played by Song Xiaofeng), who never gets drunk, as he embarks on a journey to the south with his friends to search for his sister who has run away from home. Along the way, they encounter all sorts of strange drinkers and rivals. By chance, he becomes famous after a fight and earns the title of "Wine God." In the end, Lao Jiu realizes that the life of drinking is not what he truly wants, and while searching for his sister, he resolves to quit drinking.
