In 1952, Cuban dictator Batista came to power, and his government implemented high-pressure rule domestically while pursuing pro-American policies abroad. Che Guevara (played by Benicio Del Toro) met Fidel Castro (played by Rodrigo Santoro) in Mexico City in 1955 and subsequently joined Castro's "26th of July Movement." The following year, Guevara embarked on a journey with 81 other revolutionaries to overthrow Batista's dictatorship... To meticulously and authentically portray the life of revolutionary Che Guevara, renowned Hollywood director Steven Soderbergh spent four hours depicting this legendary hero. Ultimately, to meet theater release requirements, the film was divided into two parts. This film won the Best Actor award at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival and received a Palme d'Or nomination.
