This is Russia's first large-scale film that tells the story of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident and the sacrifices made by those who risked their lives to prevent a global disaster. It turned much of the European continent into a vast exclusion zone and uninhabitable desert. The protagonist is firefighter Alexei, who at first glance does not seem like a hero. Engineer Valery and diver Boris volunteer to join him for a dangerous raid. There is almost no time to formulate a detailed plan. As the molten core approaches, the water inside the reactor container becomes hotter by the hour. The team faces a lethal assignment, the most dangerous mission - to go to hell, perhaps the most terrifying consequence of the disaster.
