In a low-rent house in Malaysia, there has been no water or electricity for years, but for Ah Qiang, who has been forgotten by society, this is the only place he can breathe. He and his mother and sister depend on each other; his mother has been depressed for a long time, leading to mental illness, and only his sister's smile brings a glimmer of light to their grim life. On his sister's birthday, the family rarely gathers for a joyful celebration, and as the siblings hold hands to go out and buy a cake, the unexpected happens, plunging the impoverished family back into despair... The film subtly conveys profound sadness within ordinary reality, slowly narrating the current issues of poverty in Malaysia. Under bureaucratic systems and class discrimination, the poor are exploited, bullied, abandoned, and doubted, with their blood ties and identities unprovable, yet this highlights the indelible nature of familial bonds and love. With no way out and no means to resist, how can those in the abyss escape?
