In German-occupied Poland, a young generation has grown up. Stach is one of them; he and his friends initially engaged in spontaneous and dangerous resistance activities, generally unorganized and aimless. Later, under the guidance of a kind communist cadre, he came into contact with an underground organization. Upon seeing the brave and beautiful young leader Dorota, he joined and fell in love with her. Stach then immersed himself in dangerous activities against oppression and humiliation, maturing when he had to take responsibility for others' lives. Unfortunately, Dorota was arrested, leaving Stach heartbroken. Meanwhile, the underground resistance organization recruited new members; a new generation was rising.
