In the heart of Tokyo's urban jungle, there stands an old and shabby house where the Shibata family of five lives in cramped conditions. The father, Osamu (played by Lily Franky), often takes his son, Shota (played by Jyo Kairi), to the supermarket to steal daily necessities. One day, on their way home, they encounter a four-year-old girl named Yuri (played by Miu Sugasaki), who is alone outside. At first, the mother, Nobuyo (played by Sakura Ando), insists on returning the girl to her parents, but upon seeing the girl's family situation, she feels compassion. The Shibata family already struggles to get by on the pension of the elderly grandmother, Hatsue (played by Kirin Kiki), and with one more mouth to feed, life becomes even harder. Including Nobuyo's younger sister Aki (played by Mayu Matsuoka), although the family walks a tightrope between poverty and illegality, their deep bonds tightly connect them, preventing their hearts from growing cold in the chilly city...
