The film is co-directed by creators Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. In it, Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn plays Gary, a down-on-his-luck genius gambler who, after meeting "Lucky Star" Curtis (Ryan Reynolds), persuades him to embark on a high-stakes journey through all the casinos in New Orleans. As their friendship grows during the trip, they gain new perspectives on their "hobby," family, and relationships.
