This film is based on British author Amanda Foreman's biography "Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire." In the late 18th century, the young and beautiful Georgiana Cavendish (played by Keira Knightley) is commanded by her mother to marry the nine years older 5th Duke of Devonshire (played by Ralph Fiennes). Georgiana is smart and witty, and her keen sense of fashion makes her the dazzling center of London high society, yet she cannot win the heart of her unfaithful husband. The Duke is dissatisfied that Georgiana has not given him a son and openly has an affair with her best friend, Lady Elizabeth (played by Hayley Atwell). In her anger, Georgiana turns to the rising political star Charles Grey (Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834) (played by Dominic Cooper), but their relationship is not permitted by the Duke...
