In the Penglai Immortal Pavilion, shrouded in mist, seven immortals gather: Lü Dongbin (played by Shi Weijian), Tie Guai Li (played by Zhao Qiansun), He Xiangu (played by Tian Xiaomei), Han Zhongli (played by Tie Niu), Han Xiangzi (played by Sun Jian), Lan Caihe (played by Yang Jianzhong), and Zhang Guolao (played by Yuan Zhiyuan). During the gathering, Tie Guai Li suggests transforming the official Cao Guojiu (played by Wang Futang) into an immortal, but He Xiangu, filled with resentment towards wealthy officials, feels displeased, leading to an unhappy end to the meeting. After being demoted from court, Cao Guojiu is continuously enlightened by the seven immortals, yet remains indifferent until he is again banished for directly admonishing the foolish monarch (played by Song Jiaq). Eventually, he awakens to his situation. Disheartened by his political career, Cao Guojiu earnestly seeks immortality. While traveling, he faces countless trials and, under the guidance of the seven immortals, sees through the emptiness of fame and fortune and the coldness of society, leading to a sudden realization. He transcends to become an immortal, leaving with the seven immortals across the sea...
