Before her marriage, Tang Wan discovered a slight bulge in her abdomen, suggesting she might be pregnant. On her wedding night, Tang Wan refused to let the groom, Hong Tianzhao, come near her. Thinking Tang Wan was ill, Hong Tianzhao went personally to invite a doctor, but accidentally fell into a well and died. Hong Tianzhao's cousin, Zhan Feng, is favored by Hong's mother and is determined to marry Hong Tianzhao.
