The film is a sequel to "The Spanish Apartment." Five years later, Xavier (played by Romain Duris) has completed his studies and become a full-time writer. His courage to abandon everything in pursuit of his dreams is admirable, but life is not so easy; many unresolved problems still await Xavier in the foreseeable future. After breaking up with Martine (played by Audrey Tautou), Xavier leads a free life chasing women, while she has chosen to become a wife and mother, which leaves Xavier feeling somewhat uneasy. To make ends meet, Xavier has to take on some unenjoyable jobs, and his limited life experiences have led to a bottleneck in his writing. To tackle this tricky problem, Xavier decides to thoroughly review his life and travels to Saint Petersburg, Russia, where a new chapter awaits him.
