This is one of Chow Yun-fat's early famous hero films. The story revolves around the righteous and chivalrous security guard, gunman Gao Fei (played by Chow Yun-fat). His friend Shen Si (played by Anthony Wong) is in debt to loan sharks and is captured by them. Fortunately, Gao Fei ventures into the lion's den to rescue Shen Si. Shen Si, in order to repay his debts, pleads with Gao Fei to collaborate with him and assist the thieves in robbing a shipment of smuggled arms. Reluctantly, Gao Fei agrees. The whole plan goes smoothly, but after they succeed, Gao Fei is betrayed by the thieves, and their car crashes into a residence, resulting in the family except for a young girl perishing. To make amends for his mistake, Gao Fei decides to rob the thieves to recover the stolen money to compensate the young girl.
