Sameer (played by Salman Khan) learns music under the tutelage of Nandini's (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) father, during which Sameer falls in love with Nandini. However, in traditional Indian culture, love marriages are forbidden, so when Nandini's father discovers the affectionate relationship between his daughter and Sameer, he angrily drives Sameer away and marries his daughter off to a man named Varaj (played by Ajay Devgan).
