In an ordinary high school, the handsome but socially awkward Rita Terasaka (played by Kento Yamazaki) is extremely popular among girls. However, in the eyes of the daydreaming girl Uto Matsuzaki (played by Mirei Kiritani), those girls are akin to mere background characters. In elementary school, Rita was bullied after his mother eloped, and during that time, Uto stepped in to help him, and they became friends. Confident Uto believes that she and Rita are destined to be together, but unexpectedly, their fairy tale romance takes an unforeseen turn. The plain-looking girl Miho Anda (played by Miwako Gaku) in the same class is bullied, and Rita steps in to help her, leading them to become a couple. As Uto watches herself go from the female lead to a mere background character, she experiences an unprecedented internal upheaval… This film is based on the manga of the same name by Momoko Koda.
