60-year-old Robert Miller (played by Richard Gere) is a successful billionaire, respected in the industry and adored by his family. However, this is all a facade; in reality, he has been tampering with the company's accounts to cover up investment losses and allegations of fraud, and he is cheating on his wife. One night, Miller causes a car accident due to fatigue driving, resulting in his mistress's death, and he flees the scene. To conceal his involvement in a potential murder and protect his business dealings, Miller begins to frantically destroy and fabricate evidence. However, as investigator Blair (played by Tim Roth) gets increasingly involved, and his daughter seems to sense something amiss, Miller gradually realizes he has strayed too far down the path of lies...
