Police officer Ah Mao (played by Chow Yun-fat) discovers a female corpse at a firearms transaction scene along with a little girl named Jia Jia. To successfully solve the case, he finds the deceased's sister, Ah Xue (played by Cherie Chung). Initially, Ah Xue feels an inexplicable fear of Ah Mao and refuses to cooperate with his work.
