In the 1930s, World War II was in full swing. Salie (played by Karl Markovics) enjoyed a life of luxury thanks to his exceptional counterfeiting skills, easily surrounded by fine food and beautiful women. However, his good fortune didn’t last long, as he was soon arrested and sent to the Mauthausen concentration camp. Meanwhile, the German Nazis plotted to produce large quantities of counterfeit currency to disrupt the economy of the Allies. Salie's talent was recognized, and he became the head of a secret counterfeit production team, but his conscience compelled him to choose a different path… This film is based on Adolf Burger's original work "The Devil's Workshop," which recounts the author's personal experiences. The film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2008 and the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2007 German Film Awards (Devid Striesow).
