In 1999, before Macau's return to China. Macau police officer Ma Zhencheng (played by Chapman To) faces suspension due to trouble, and his career as a policeman is about to end. While hanging out with his buddy, Ma unexpectedly encounters a mysterious girl, Zhang Bixin (played by Li Bingbing). Zhang Bixin then follows Ma Zhencheng home, and when Ma wakes up from a drunken night, he mistakenly believes he had a one-night stand with her.
