Chapter One: "Echo"
The story takes place in Harbin's special leftist cultural stronghold during the Northeast Anti-Japanese War—the Harbin Harmonica Society. The society uses "Dehui Trading Company" as a front, responsible for secret contacts, developing party members, and organizing activities. In early spring 1936, due to a traitor's report, the secret police set up a trap using "Guoguang" harmonicas as bait. They arranged for an "uninvited guest" to impersonate a liaison with the harmonica society, staging a "thief shouting to catch a thief" act and mistakenly targeting the wealthy young lady Du Roujia who came to collect goods. In a critical moment, Old Shen timely discovers the secret police's conspiracy and cleverly exposes the "uninvited guest" through the performance of a song, skillfully resolving this crisis. This experience also strengthens Du Roujia's determination to join the Harbin Harmonica Society and fight together with everyone.
Chapter Two: "Starlight"
In the Dongfeng Aerospace City of Jiuquan, Gansu, 19-year-old Liu Fanxing moves to the "No. 10 District" (Dongfeng Aerospace City) family area, living with the Liang family after her father is temporarily transferred for work. She befriends the lively and sunny Liang Wanhu due to their mutual love for music and meets the young physics and astronomy enthusiast Lu Xuelin. To fulfill a promise to her father, Liu Fanxing needs to find a radio that can receive specific frequencies to listen to "songs from the universe." Thus, she embarks on a journey with Liang Wanhu and Lu Xuelin to explore the creation of a semiconductor radio. Through continuous attempts, they collect materials such as diodes, transistors, capacitors, resistors, and semiconductor materials, successfully creating a semiconductor radio. Just in time for the launch of the Dongfanghong-1 satellite, their radio emits a crackling sound—the "voice from the universe"—broadcasting "Dongfanghong" from the rocket in space. Throughout the process of making the radio, Liu Fanxing, Liang Wanhu, and Lu Xuelin grow together, witnessing and inheriting China's aerospace undertakings and spirit.
Chapter Three: "Brightness"
In Guangzhou in 1984, college graduate Cheng Guang develops the idea to set up a night market to prove himself to his girlfriend Lin Meng and her father. To illuminate the night market, Cheng Guang risks repairing lights on rainy nights, overcoming challenges, and is moved by Lin Meng, who decides to help him, preparing everything meticulously. Cheng Guang pulls the power lines, Lin Meng attracts customers, and the brothers Erhu call vendors. As the lights in the alley illuminate, stalls begin to sell, and citizens gather. Amid the excitement, all the lights in the street suddenly go out. Lin Meng's father, in his role as the street director, calls for a stop. A customer turns on a flashlight, neighbors come down to light candles and lanterns, expressing the community’s need for the night market. Lin Meng's father is touched by the efforts of Cheng Guang and the support from the public. Two weeks later, following Lin Meng's father's suggestion, the government specially plans a street for the night market. Cheng Guang finally gains recognition from Lin Meng's father, and China’s first night market officially opens.
Chapter Four: "You Listen"
To support a music competition at a village primary school in Yunnan, Teacher Zhuang gathers children who love music in the village to form a band called New Nine (牛奶). Teacher Zhuang shares her "unity of heaven and humanity" music philosophy with the children and takes them to get closer to nature. During rehearsals, each child experiences personal growth, facing various challenges together, and the spirit of the band gradually solidifies. Just as the band faces the crisis of missing the finals, the New Nine band and the villagers work together to transform a humble cowshed into a cozy live house, successfully uploading their performance video through online channels.
Chapter Five: "Passionate"
To prepare for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, China assembles a team of ski doctors. Young intern doctor Ma Hao joins experienced mentor Lao Yang and other doctors to participate in ski doctor training at the Wanlong Ski Resort in Zhangjiakou. Ma Hao has a strong trauma regarding skiing due to his father’s accident while skiing in his childhood, leading him to choose to stay put. During skiing, however, doctor Lao Yang unexpectedly suffers from a heart problem, resulting in an accident on the slopes. In a critical moment, Ma Hao recalls the guidance and encouragement that Lao Yang and his father had given, overcoming years of psychological obstacles. With his excellent skiing skills, he reaches the site of Lao Yang's accident to provide treatment, buying precious time for rescue. Through this rescue experience, Ma Hao not only conquers his childhood trauma regarding skiing but also gains a clearer understanding of the meaning of "benevolence of healers" on the Olympic stage. In 2022, after four years of training, China’s first ski medical support team appears at the Beijing Winter Olympics, steadfastly fulfilling each emergency rescue mission.
