In a certain place in Kyushu, a bus hijacking incident occurred with heavy casualties. Aside from the driver, Sawai (portrayed by Hiroshi Yakusho), and a pair of siblings, Naoki (portrayed by Masaki Miyazaki) and Kozue (portrayed by Aoi Miyazaki), all other passengers were brutally shot dead by the assailants. Afterwards, in order to forget the past, Sawai left for another land, but the blood-filled memories continued to haunt him. Two years passed in the blink of an eye. To resolve his inner turmoil, Sawai returned to his hometown and found the siblings Naoki and Kozue, who shared a similar fate as his own. Deeply impacted by the traumatic experience, they had become withdrawn and gloomy. Thus, Sawai moved into the siblings' home, forming a peculiar family with their distant relative, Akihiko (portrayed by Yoichiro Saito). Not long after their peaceful days began, a series of strange serial murder cases made Sawai a suspect in the eyes of the police.
