The American Mafia boss Old Plamer is on his deathbed, while his former underling—magician Buddy (played by Jeremy Piven) is negotiating with the police, attempting to reduce his robbery charges by becoming a witness. Plamer, from his hospital bed, orders that Buddy's heart be obtained, commissioning a mysterious Swede to handle the matter. The Mafia's second-in-command quickly issues a one million dollar bounty, vowing to take Buddy's life. Detective Richard (played by Ryan Reynolds) and Donald immediately head to Buddy's hiding place at Lake Tahoe upon intercepting this news. Meanwhile, the hefty bounty attracts various killers, including the deranged Nazi triplets, a duo of femme fatales, a face-changing assassin, and mercenaries skilled in torture. Three off-duty police officers are also commissioned by a lawyer to bring back the fledgling Buddy. In no time, various factions arrive at the luxurious hotel where Buddy is hiding, turning it into a chaotic battlefield... After the dust settles, Richard discovers the hidden truths behind the case.
