Tian Dongsheng (played by Bai Yingkuan) led the anti-bandit soldiers into the bandit stronghold, Wu Jiazha, where they discovered Fang Dazhao in a haystack. The old poor farmer Zhou Qingfu (played by Zhang Yan) also arrived to inform Tian Dongsheng about Wu Jitian's secret cave. Jiao Wu (played by Tian Lie) discovered that the People's Liberation Army was entering the stronghold and quickly notified Wu Jitian. A fierce battle broke out between the two sides, and during the retreat, Tian Dongsheng was captured and thrown into a water prison. He and his fellow prisoners managed to kill the guard delivering food and escaped back to their base. The company commander (played by Wang Feng) criticized Tian Dongsheng for his rash actions during reconnaissance. After learning about Wu Jitian's situation, the regiment commander (played by Ma Shida) ordered the entire regiment to march on Wu Jiazhai, forcing the fleeing enemy to scatter. The outbreak of the Korean War brought joy to Wu Jitian, but a series of failed operations also led him down a path of no return...
